As the first of, hopefully, many posts on this site I decided to start with a general warning for those driving through Utah. DON'T EVER LET YOUR GAS TANK GET BELOW HALF! Apparently, Utah is not much on service stations and the favorite tag on exit signs is "No Services." They are, however, really big on view locations since there are about 10 for every gas station on Interstate 70. You think I am joking, don't you? Go ahead, try your luck.
Other than that, Utah has some striking beauty, if you like desolate and dry. Try the drive across on I-70 at night. Something in the sandstone glows bright in the moonlight. Looks like snow, actually. Stunning. Also, it's cooler!! Another great thing about I-70 is the scenery. It seems there is a gorgeous canyon every hour. In comparison, Interstates 80 and 84 are pretty boring as far as the view goes, but they are faster, if time is important. And, of course, it matters where you are coming from and where you are going!!
Enjoy the ride, my fellow travelers...
